Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Message Board

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Board Index

I am frighten as I recently began feeling a strange "ache" in my left quad 1 week ago. I hadn't exercised at all recently and found it very curious. since then I feel that I have also felt weakness in my right bicep and then followed days later in my left bicep muscle. I have no history of health problems, but have a mighty bad feeling about this. I feel what are called the fasiculations, however they come and go and are in no way constant.
I continue to have the "stiffness/achiness/fast fatigue in my quad for 1 week now. It is hard to say that it is getting worse, but does not seem to be getting any better. I do have to say that I have been under a lot of stress recently, and reading on the internet about ALS has certainly not helped my sleep or reduce my anxiety.
I also have been getting pain in my knee joint and some diffuse pain in some of these muscles, some cramping like pain I would call it.
I am posting because I do not want to go to a doctor yet, I usually wait a couple weeks to see if something will clear up before I see what they have to say. However I am no terrified at what it might be. Today at work I had a difficult time doing my regular tasks, as in I felt weak doing them. I am trying to ignore the symptoms, but I feel physical stiffness and achy-pain even at rest that seems to shift from leg to arms. I am not sure what is going on, but as time goes on and I feel weaker, I sense that it cannot be good.
today at about 12 days past the onset of initial right leg weakness, I feel like I can hardly walk. This is too fast of a progression for ALS right?

Please let me know if you have any information for me.
Thanks.
