Alzheimer's Disease & Dementia Message Board

Alzheimer's Disease & Dementia Board Index

You are right about that! my Mom and my brother's deceased MIL are perfect examples. Mom was always loving, cheerful, positive, and made the best of everything. Undemanding. Now in the final stages of AD she is still loving, undemanding, pleasant to be with, kind hearted.

My brother's MIL was always critical, controlling, had a know it all attitude, was easily annoyed, and basically unhappy with her life. As an Alzheimer victim she spat at everyone, threw temper tantrums, hit people, bit, cursed, swore, and was a monumental pain, even to those who loved her. Personality doesn't get changed, you just become more like you are now. Let's think of that if we want to be easy patients later on ...

Love,

Martha
