Hello.

I have a ferritin of 10, iron serum high, calculated iron sat high, and unsaturated ibc low. I am also deficient in b12.

My CBC is all normal. How can this be?

Thanks for your help?

Hi,
It means that your anemic. Although not severe, but if not treated will get worse. A lot of doctors will say your low normal, depending on lab. My doctor wants me to be at 100. I was diagnosed with severe IDA in Oct. And as of May my ferritin has only risen to 12.7 . I had a hmg of 8.0 and and cbc off. I am currently on 325mg iron and also take vit. C to help absorbtion. My anemia is due to menses and excessive blood loss.
Hope this helps.
If your B12 is low this is VERY serious. For some reason, a very low value is typically used as the minimum threshold in the US and UK (usually 200 pg/mL). So if yours is low then you are really extremely deficient. In Japan they use 450 as the minimum.

I hope by now you have started treatment as this B12 deficiency can cause permanent neurological damage.

You should also have tests for pernicious anemia, which if positive means you will need to get B12 the rest of your life via injection or oral supplement. Your stomach is no longer able to extract B12 from your food when you have pernicious anemia.
