Low ferritin level

i am having a low ferritin level since last 5 years.its 3.8 now.my doc gives iron
suppliments through iv and ferritin level will go up.its happening again and again. lots of test had been done but no reason found why ferritin level goes down. what to do ? is it right to take iron suppliment regularly.
