... I just found out this week that I am anemic. My numbers are below. I’ve been having neurological problems for almost two years (numbness, tingling, bad coordination and balance, etc.) and my doctor seems to think the anemia could be causing it. I was first tested for anemia last April and the doctor I saw at the time never told me I was anemic. My new doctor tested me... (14 replies)

... I'm not sure where to look anymore. I'm utterly frustrated. I've been anemic for over a year, answer-iron. I kept getting more anemic, fatigued, I just didn't want to get up because it felt so hard. I finally am able to get injections, I just got my first one last Wednesday. I haven't done a new cbc, we're still trying to figure out why I'm anemic. I'm a 21 year old female,... (2 replies)

Back in March I went to the GP for a small lump under a surgery scar, thought maybe hernia, sent me to the surgeon a week later I was in surgery had my intestines twisted in two locations, no hernia. I went in for a med check on Monday and was telling my GP that I was tired all the time (falling asleep at work), my mouth/tongue keep going numb, can't remember things,... (1 replies)
... I recently got a blood test due to mild fatigue, migraines (which have always coincided with a flare up of iron deficiency anemia in the past), and slightly decreased exercise capacity. My tests showed: WBC: 3.7 (4.5-11) low, but always like this RBC: 4.0 (4.0-5.2) borderline HGB: 13.4 (12-16) normal HCT: 39.9 (35-47) normal MCV: 100 (80-100) borderline, last time was... (3 replies)
... Have your Ferritin checked as well! FLFLOWERGIRL:) Edit to say, you are considered anemic if one or both of your H & H numbers are below range i.e., Hgb under 12 or 11.5 in your case. Then you would be mildly anemic. (2 replies)
... My gyn said my heart rate that has been running around 110 and my shortness of breath all summer is not related to my Ferretin of 5 because my hgb was 11.5. I am not acutally anemic, and I just need to increase my food intake of iron. ... (5 replies)
... I have been feeling awful for the past month--heart palps, trouble sleeping, fatigue, etc. The doctors are chalking it up to anxiety, although I have NEVER had problems with this. They have not checked for B12 deficiency or my Iron level yet. My hemoglobin was 12.7 (normal according to my lab is 11.5-15.5) and Hematocrit was 36.7 (normal is 36-47). I also had low white... ... I went in for my 3 month blood work today. I knew I was feeling better -- a lot better, in fact. I've been taking an iron supplement (Vitron-C) twice a day since July. Lately I've been regularly surpassing my best running time. I can run faster now than I ever could before. I knew there had been some sort of change for the better. My CBC today showed my hematocrit has... (2 replies)
... Hi I am 43yo female who was recently diagnosed with anemia, HG 11.5; Hematocrit 35.3; platelets normal. I have four kids; my youngest is 6. I have been taking an antidepressant (lexapro) for the last 4 years for PMDD and I thought that was the cause of my fatigue. I am still menstruating but the flow has been pretty consistent since the last birth. In the last two... (8 replies)
... Apologies in advance here I usually read a lot of these boards before I ask neophyte questions .... I have a test for tomorrow AM, and wondered if I should add B12 to it. I'm male, Hypothyroid, on T4/Armour, suspected adrenal fatigue, not on Cortef yet, all the obvious symptoms. Looking back at my labs over the past couple of years, I just noticed that my Ferritin has... (8 replies)
... I was very anemic for years. I think woman often are. 11 actually is really not bad at all. I went down to 5.3 and got faint and very weak. I had to get on a birth control, so my periods were under control. ... (9 replies)
... Both doctors are saying what is correct. The ferritin level is ok. It is stored iron. That means you have an adequate supply and you really don't want to mess with that. When the stores get high that is another disease you do not want. The Red Blood Cell count is by itself no indicator of anemia. The Hemaglobin is the official designator of how much functional iron you have... (1 replies)
