Yes. That was my worst symptom that finally led me to re-testing (in addition to "exhaustion"). Blood tests missed it (B12 def.) early on. I needed methylmalonic acid testing to find it. After supplementing for several months, my breathing is SO much better (most days I don't even notice it unless I get really stressed/anxious). I used to think the hyperventilation was due to anxiety, but it never left! I read everything I could, and tried the exercises, on "chronic hyperventilation syndrome", but nothing worked til I started taking B12. I think it has to do with the fact that larger than normal red blood cells (immature ones), which is usually present with B12 def., are inefficient carriers of oxygen. OR, after studying this for awhile, it could be that decreased methylcobalamin (the type of B12 used by the brain and nerves) causes problems with the vagal (vagus) nerve that is responsible for our breathing.
