You're not overreacting. Do you bleed heavily on your periods?? I have bad anemia and I'm pretty sure that's what's causing it. It could be ulcers or some other undetected bleeding. In the meantime you should start fighting the anemia w/ blood builders. They have "blood builder" supplements. I was advised to eat lots of red meat, green vegetables, prunes, raisins, dried apricots, etc. You need to take Vitamin C w/ iron-rich foods to help it get absorbed, or citrus fruit, or a tomato or something. Right now my appetite is so low that I make do w/ juiced raw veggies - including spinach, carrots, apples & parsley together - doesn't taste too bad if you get it just right.

It takes a while to get it under control if you're going the diet/supplement route. They can do iron transfusions too. You don't say how old you are and what your menstrual cycle is like?? It's a nasty business but quite treatable.
