You really have to do a cost/benefit analysis on this one. The side effects of iron injections can be really bad for some people. Especially if you have a history of arthritis or other immune disorders. I have heard of people having the iron go to the wrong place and cause heart attack and stroke. Iron in the injected form is toxic to some people. I had a slow intravenus infusion a few years ago and I ran a fever for 3 or 4 days afterward and had a lot of joint pain. I have had my iron counts down low again, but I am through menopause and do not need extra iron like I used to and so I would not have the infusion again( for me). My body can not store the iron properly nor retrieve it for use either, so as long as I eat properly I do not have any extra iron left over, but I am not at risk of iron produced problems either. That is one opinion and you can get others here and other places.
