Hello there. I'm hoping someone can shed a little light on my situation.

I've had a history of fatiuge problems due to an awful bout with mono a few years ago. I've gotten steadily better, but recently I've had a setback.

I went to a new doctor last week, mainly for a sore throat. I've been taking an antibiotic for that. My throat is somewhat better, but the tiredness is still there. Frankly, I think it's getting worse. I feel totally wiped out. My mind seems fuzzy and I have heart palpitations as well. Plus, I've noticed over the past week or so my hair is falling out like crazy.

I had bloodwork taken & I haven't received word from the doctor yet, but I was able to get a copy of my results.....(I'll just include the iron-related..thyroid & mono came back ok)

**Ferritin level 7.7 normals 11.0 - 306.8 ng/ml
wbc 6.0 normals 3.8 - 10.8 thou/cumm
rbc 4.28 normals 3.90-5.40
hemoglobin 13.8 normals 12.0 -16.0 g/dl
hematocrit 40.4 normals 35.0-47.0%
MCV 94.5 normals 81.0-99.0 cu microns
**MCH 32.3 normals 27.0-32.0 picograms
MCHC 34.2 normals 32.0-36.0 g/dl
RDW 14.5 normals 11.0-16.0%
Platelet count 285 normals 150-400 thou/cumm

Total iron 69 normals 28-170 ug/dl
TIBC 325 normals 261-478 ug/dl
%transferrin sat 21 normals 15-50 %

(I think this was all of them)

From what I've read, it seems like I'm on the verge of anemia. As I understand it, the ferritin has to drop off before the lack of iron shows up in the hemoglobin test.

I guess my question is, how fast does the ferritin drop? I realize it must have taken quite some time to get that low (former vegetarian, still don't eat red meat), but once it is very low, will it start dropping faster? I'm wondering if that is why my symptoms seem to be worsening. I should also mention Thalassemia runs in my family, although from what I can see, that doesn't seem to be my problem at the moment.

I appreciate any insight you can offer!
Thanks in advance.
