Anah,

I guess that makes perfect since, it would be hard for us to overdose on Iron. Well if your body can't get rid of extra Iron, can it absorb it all?? Good question.

Well, I just go back from seeing my new Doctor, he was very nice and very concerned with the results of my bloodwork from my GYNO.. He drew 6 viles of blood and is testing me for everything.. Liver ..Kidney..Iron.. Ferritin..Binding Iron.. Hepititas B and C... and more.. plus I have to go get a Colonoscopy?

Have you had one yet? I am sure the Ablation thing is a good alternitive.. but I am 46 and..will be entering menopause soon.. He is checking my menopuasal level as well which will help me decide if I need to go that same route.. I just need to make sure that that is the true cause of my anemia.. and since I just found out 5 weeks ago that I have this.. I have to have all the test done.. I will be sure to post my recent blood work..and hopefull ..decide what to do as well.. this is very distressing.. and I know from reading here this anemia can take a long time to correct itself. Thanks for your post. I would also opt for the ablation over a hysterectomy as well.. want to keep all my parts!!

Emmy, I'm glad you have a concerned doctor that is looking at everything and not ruling anything out. I hope he listens to you, also! Sometimes doc's are all about labs, but don't actualy listen to how the person feels, only focus's on the labs. Make him hear you, too, when you go back for labs, especially if he says your o.k. and you know your not.

Yes, I had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy when I was in for the transfusion, doc was pretty sure it was the periods, but, wanted to check everything. They knocked me out, I didn't know a thing and didn't want to! I didn't even know I'd had it done, didn't feel any different at all "down there!".

I had a post to the question of "too much iron"? I am going to call a pharmacist, I know you can get iron poisoning from taking to much if you have plenty to start with, still not sure.
