I have been anemic and had many symptmoms but thank goodness I have never had problems with my hair falling out. My ferritin is currently 3 and my hmgl is 10.7. I have been back on my iron for a couple of weeks and will get my blood tested again next week to see if my hmgl has gone up. My hmgl was 4.3 in the fall of 2005 so I had a blood transfusion-4 units. At that time my ferritin was 4. I have been having problems running, as I always do when my numbers are low. I was running 3-3.5 miles and kept a good pace and now can run 1/4 mile but have to drag myself every step of the way. I can play basketball, bike ride and do other activities but I guess that to run you need sustained energy for an extended amount of time. It seems that since 10.7 is not a terribly low number for hmgl that it is the low ferritin that contributes more to my inability to run. Any comments on exercise and anemia.

Thanks!
