Well.....personally, I would wait. You have a very evident/obvious reason for your anemia. You have had treatments to correct it, and you are now on oral iron. All totally respectable treatments. Your hemoglobin appears to be going in an upward direction. Good sign. It takes time.

There is one quick fix and that would be intrevenous iron. This can have many side effects and people can have allergic reactions, so it is always a "last resort" treatment for those who cannot absorb oral iron. You have not demonstrated that.

IMO, a hematologist should be consulted when an anemia exists and the basic treatments have been ineffective or a cause cannot be found. I don't think you are there yet.

I would go back to the GYN next month. If you are on an upward trend, just stick with it. No improvement--go to a hematologist then.
