Hi all, I have been recovering from anemia due to heavy periods. The doctors have told me it is because I have fibroids(5cm. and 3cm. intramuscular). So, O.K. lets take them out. But that is not what they want to do. They want to do a D and C and an endomitrial(sp?) ablation. Both Gyn.'s have told me that this will slow or stop the bleeding but it will not remove the fibroids. That would be fine except that the fibroids are causing back pain, constipation and bladder issues. So does anyone have any advise. I think I am going crazy! I am tiered of being tiered and in pain.

laura--I have also been recovering from anemia due to heavy periods. I had 7polyps removed at the time of my endometrial ablation SX in June.

I have read on other boards about doctors wanting to do DC/endometrial ablations for fibroids. This must be a common solution.

I've read that when they cause pain because of type or location that some patients are having a procedure called UAE (uterine artery embolization) to shrink the fibroids. Have you researched this yet?

Another option is a partial hysterectomy.

You can use the search box, at the top of the page, and keyword fibroids. You will see many posts on the subject or go to the Hysterectomy board. I did this before having my procedure which I am extremely happy about and wish that I had done it years ago. Good luck. FLFLOWERGIRL:cool:
