Besides the caffeine in tea interfering with iron absorbtion, as a thyroid patient, its good to be aware that tea contains high amounts of fluoride, which isn't good for the thyroid (its an iodine blocker).

Are Tannins considered Caffeine? I thought that it was something different. Is Caffeine bad for iron absorption as well?

Since my Ferritin has gone up I started having my afternoon High Tea again. I know why the call it "High Tea" it's all that gets me through the end of the day feeling good. I love my tea! FLFLOWERGIRL:)
It was my impression that only the tannins in tea were the culprit, not the caffeine.
