B12 shots
Nov 26, 2007
I am currently waiting for my lab work to come in to see if I'm eligible for recieving b12 shots. I'm doing it for more energy and would like to lose 40lbs. I've been advised not to because the shot can be hard on all your organs. What do you think?

I haven't heard this is hard on the organs, but I don't know everything about it either. Too much of anything is not a good idea. The shots have filler ingredients from what I understand, not just B-12 so you would be getting other things. If you are doing it for more energy I would try the sublingual OTC Methyl type to be safe. There are people here that have a lot more info on the shots, if they pop in I'm sure someone will help you in time. FLFLOWERGIRL:)

I have a B12 deficiency and have been receiving shots for about 3 years now. I am currently down to once a month. I have not heard anything about it being hard on the organ system, but anything is possible. Anyway, I wanted to tell you that my doctor explained to me that B12 itself doesn't really give you energy -- he said that B12 allows you to make more red blood cells (I think that's how he explained it -- now I'm doubting myself. At any rate, it has something to do with the production of red blood cells.) You might want to look into this in the event that you are not eligible for the shots. I think you need to have a level of 250 or below, but I'm sure your doctor will make his decision based on your own medical history.

Good luck,
