When I started my injections my level was 101, which is really low. My Dr. said that he likes the B12 level to be no lower than 600 I think the target for him is aorund 1000. I had to take 8 1000/mg B-12shots for 8 weeks along with sublingle B-12 tablets. Then he checked my levels 3 months later. The B-12 sublingle tablets were maintaining the levels so I don't have to take shots. Are you also taking tablets along with the shots? Now that my levels are better I find that a slow walk not to far is helping to build up my energy. However, I would not walk alot especially right now when your levels are low as doing any energy uses B 12. When my was especially low I just rested and allowed my body time to heal itself.

Take care and let us know how things go for you.
Yes low B12 is medical referred to as pernicious anemia. I ask my Dr. what would have caused this and he said that for some reason my stomach quit being able to absorb B12 from my food, which could have been caused by many things like my diet, stomach ulcers etc. I don't think there is really any hard answer as to why the body stops absorbing B12 but he did say that once you have that problem it generally does not correct itself and that B12 supplements would need to be taken for the rest of my life. It has been 7 months since I started this and it took several months for me to feel better I still have my days of being tired but those are getting further apart. I'm just trying to eat items that are iron rich and rest when my body tells me it needs to. The intrinsic factor is what causes your body to breakdown and absorb the B12. If you don't have enough of this then your body will probley need B12 supplements from here on out. Are you taking the sublingle B12 tablets or just the shots? My Dr. had be on both to make sure that I got my levels up fast since they were so low.

I know that you have to feel bad as at had gotten to the point that I had no energy, no appetie, weight loss, anxiety, nervousness, tingling of hands/feet, and a host of other symptons. Hope your not having as many of these symptons as I was having.

Hi

Not sure if I am doing this right - but have read a few of these pages and would like to ask if anyone has had the same thing that I am from my GP?
B12 was tested twice and come back with a reading of 116.
I had to wait for 4 weeks to get an injection, but it hasn't seemed to have 'kicked' in.
I visited the GP again with 1 of my symptons sore throat, which I have had to varying degrees since May last year - swollen lymph glands - enlarged thyroid- thyroid cysts (got in a stage, crying etc as I can't explain how I feel) asking if the injections could be more frequent than 1 every 3 months. Instead I have been offered anti-depressents as the GP seem to imply that my symptoms are in my head and not the fact of feeling quite poorly sometimes gets me down.
I was also told that although 116 count is low, it isn't really that low as they work at the range of 200 being normal? So therefore the B12 deficiancy is not a problem.
Can anyone help as I am starting to doubt myself and think that it maybe me being daft??!!
