Re: Dr's Visit

FLFLOWERGIRL - I know that people do get their hair back to normal after dealing with low iron. My specialist constantly quotes '70' as the magic number and states that your ferretin has to stay at 70 or above. It then takes anywhere from 3 to 6 months to really notice results. For some people it can take 12months.

I do know a couple of people who have had low iron for quite some time but it has not affected their hair. I'd say we are all individuals and at the end of the day we will all see results at varying levels of raised ferretin. It's summer here in Australia and i'm not moulting to the degree i have at this time of the year for the last 7yrs straight. I'm still shedding, just not to that scary "i'm going to be bald by the end of summer" amount that i used to shed and i know there is no way that i have reached 70. I can't wait to get my next test and see where i'm at. At the very most i may have reached 40, but that is after 2yrs of using some form of iron supplement or other and a lot of hard work.

Actually i think it was littlebunnyfoo who once mentioned in a post that she had read that after ferretin gets to 40 onwards that you notice changes in hair shedding. I hope that is true as 40 seems a hell of a lot easier to get to than 70!!

Wow, you iron your hair!! I'd be toooooo scared to attempt that. I'd be worried that i would burn what hasn't so far shed :) Might need one of your xanax before i attempt something like that :p

All the best with your test and i hope you get great test results :)
