Yes, you have mild anemia and that's how it starts. Your HGB is a tad below the low end of normal. So you are technically anemic.

Many doctors don't think twice about it since you are just outside of normal. Many women can drop like this if the test happened to be right after their period.

In your case, your ferritin is low, your TIBC is high enough to indicate that this has been a CHRONIC problem. TIBC doesn't raise right away--not until you've been lacking awhile.

Also, you *never* really want to be on the low end of normal for your CBC (more specifically HGB) numbers. Sitting somewhere squarely in the middle for HGB is a good, "chronic" place to be.

Back when I was *healthy* and having no iron problems, I was consistently at about 14.1. I'm not at 13.9 for the last few tests and I feel good about that. Back when I was having all my issues, I was at 11.7. So, you really need to take this seriously even if your doctor doesn't. No, you're not in any danger of dropping dead, but I'm betting you don't feel that great and have been chalking it up to your thyroid issues??
