I know I am jumping in here very late, but I've read the responses and wanted to make sure that the correct information was put out there. It is incorrect first that Crohn's disease is IBS or "Irritable Bowel Syndrome." Crohn's is in fact, IBD or Inflammatory Bowel Disease. There are major differences between the two. It is also not correct that Crohn's would be seen in a colonoscopy. Since Crohn's disease can effect any part of the digestive tract from the esophagus to the anus, it would not necessarily be seen in Colonoscopy, as a colonoscopy is limited to the large colon. My Crohn's disease effects the ileum, cecum and duodenum, all parts of the small intestine and thus is not seen during colonoscopy. Lastly, Crohn's will most definitely cause low iron due to the frequent diarrhea and bleeding in the intestinal tract. I am consistently both iron and B-12 deficient due to my Crohn's.
