From memory slow-fe is an iron supplement? Iron supplements will help boost your iron stores and once these stores get to a sufficiently high enough figure (figures will vary from person to person) your hair should grow back "IF" nothing else is wrong.

In my case i solely focused on getting my ferretin up, but it took me 2 years. At the end of those two years i found out i actually had a thyroid condition along with inablility to absorb certain nutrients due to insufficient pancreatic enzymes to digest protein and hair is 98% protein.

The best thing you can do is start your iron supplements and after a month get a blood test to see whether your ferretin has reason. Some people's ferretin has risen unbelievably in just one month and they were fine. The rest of use found that after a month we were lucky to have moved much or moved at all. If your levels are taking their time moving, then leave your repeat blood tests for ever 3 months or there abouts, just to keep an eye on things.

You also need to familiarise yourself with what things should not be taken with your iron supplent eg; caffeinated beverages, too much dairy, zinc supplements as they all hinder absorbtion so you should leave those sorts of things for 2hrs before or after your iron supplement.

Don't expect dramatic results hair-wise immediately. Even once your ferretin has risen high enough it will take 3 - 6 months to notice a difference in the hair department.
