What does chewing ice have to do with anemia?
This is called PICA which is a craving for non-food substances. Some people have PICA for other reasons than anemia. Some of which also can actually cause an iron deficiency because they crave other things like dirt and starch. In anemia, however, eating ICE does not cause IDA rather it is a symptom of IDA. Just as Anemia is also a symptom of some other process going on inside the body and not an actual disease in itself. This form of PICA associated with anemia is that of a nutritional deficiency, such as iron deficiency, which can trigger scravings.

For me I took ice everywhere to the bath, store and it was just crazy! As soon as I got a good amount of iron in me for a couple weeks, I believe it went away. FLFLOWERGIRL:)
