Pattyanne-I was unable to tolerate ferris sulfate and had to go off iron supplements for a while. Next, my GI doc prescribed a wonderful iron for me. It is a Polysaccharide Iron Complex. It also has Vit-C added in for absorption, one less pill to take. It comes in high does as well 150mg of elemental iron, hence the generic name is Poly Iron 150. It never makes me sick or constipated no S/E's for me at all. As with any iron you do have to give the body time to get adjusted to it. It is not a script, but is available at any pharmacy, they may have to order it in for you. It only takes a couple of days if this is the case. It is OTC, but is behind the pharmacy wall for some reason. There is also a Poly Iron Forte that has additional B-12 in it for those that require B-12 also. Good luck to you. I know it's hard to find an iron that is tolerable. FLFLOWERGIRL:)
