how long does memory loss and confusion last with pernicious anemia
Hi ulcermommy

Are you having the above symptoms with the PA
Do you also have tingling & numbness, anxiety, sleep problems and the like

You havent mentioned how long you have been having treatment , but i would presume you are having the standard protocol for PA cyanocobalamin injections 1 per day for 1 week....then weekly for 1 month ......then monthly... and then 3 monthly....

It appears to be that if you have nuerological symptoms with the deficiency this protocol does very little for those types of things.....In part because of the type of B12 & the amount of doses........However it corrects the blood so the tests will be normal.....This appears to be why many people with PA and neuro signs will complain of still not feeling that well..

I wish that doctors would recognize this they like to treat all B12 deficiency symptoms the same as PA which is a shame for those with neuro problems in the mean time you are still suffering and telling the doc who know says well its not because of the PA and on it goes never really getting anywhere.......

I dont have PA but I do have a B12 deficiency my level was 130 but have had symptoms for years even when I was 372 which is still too low...
I have some very severe neuro problems including memory loss anda books worth of others...My doctor uses Methyl cobalaminn injections at very high doses 3 times a week he will take it down to 1 per week eventually when all my symptoms have healed ........

Folate is highly recommend to have with B12 they are cofactors and good mates they dont like being apart and get jealous when one has more so if you have high doses of B12 you should alos have folate as B12 will deplete the folate and versa visa............

Brain fog responds very quickly with methylcobalamin as does confusion and in my case memory loss.......
I have never had cyanocobalaminn injections only subs (I dont any more) I did have hydroxocobalamin with my other doctor but it didnt really do much for me it made me feel a little better but it was very short lived after they took it down to 1 per week...........The numbness returned after 2 days....

If you have any other questions I would love to hear from you.....
Best wishes
