RDW: 19.8

"Platelets appear adequate"
RBCs: Anisocytosis: Slight
Ovalocytes: Few
Hypochromasia: Mild
Microcytosis: Moderate

I really don't know what the last bit any help/input on any of this would be hugely appreciated.

Yes!! You are looking good. I am very happy for you.

Platelets are the clotting factor. They go high in the presence of iron deficiency. Your RBC morphology is marked as anisocytosis (slight) which means that the RBC's are of *un-equal size*. MCV 67 meant that the cells were much smaller. So you have (shape of cells) Few Oval, Mild Hypo, Mod Micro. This is indicative of iron deficiency anemia. The high RDW at 19.8 is an indicator that there is a *wide range* of RBC *widths* which is also common in IDA. It basically means you have IDA. This is why all these tests are done to prove iron deficiency as a cause for anemia. Good luck to you. FLFLOWERGIRL:)
