I have been eating dark chocolate for lots of reasons, but I discovered it has a lot of iron. But doesn't it also have caffeine, so is it good/bad for iron absorption?

And I have also cut way back on my beloved coffee, but is decaf ok? Thanks in advance.

I would say anything in moderation and do the best that you can. For example, multivitamins also contain ~iron and calcium~ and that is also known to inhibit iron absorption as you are asking about. Just do the best that you can, there is iron present in almost everything to some degree, you should be fine unless you have a malabsorption problem.

Coffee is also on the no, no list. I have no idea about the decaf difference but you can probably look that up. Take care.

Flowergirl,

My husband would like you. You sound so reasonable. I guess my anxiety shines through a bit! I read some horrible thing today on the internet about how people my age with my HCT level have a 40% of having a heart attack in the next month!! That made my day. I couldn't tell him.
