I think that it would be helpful to call your doctor and see what she wants you to do NOW!:o:dizzy::mad::eek::p

I hope that she is well versed in iron supplements, many are not. I know that you need a high dose iron if this is from (IDA) iron deficiency anemia as the cause. I haven't seen a higher dose here than the one that I am taking which is gentle on the GI tract and has no symptoms for me. I took Poly Iron 150--2 X daily at 300 mgs of elemental iron for the first yr and now I remain on 1X daily at 150 mgs. This iron is also made for long term use because it is safer for many reasons. It is with a script, (only buy what is prescribed), or without (buy the entire box like me), and located behind the pharmacy and cost about $20.00 for 90 count, you have to ask for it by name. I really think this is your best bet if you cannot take ferris sulfate which is easily absorbed and quick to make blood BUT hard on the body for some people or long term use can cause problems. There was someone here a while back taking Poly Iron 3X daily, I think this is what I needed and that I wasn't prescribed enough for my problem. You really should call and see what your doctor's best advice would be. Good luck with that. Let us know what happens. You sound so laid back and this concerns me a little. The longer anemia goes on the more it complicates other things in the body, meaning your entire body function and it's not good. There is a big difference in mild/moderate and severe anemia A BIG difference. Until you have been there you can't possibly understand my rant. Acupuncture may decrease symptoms, but only iron can make blood cells that carry oxygen through the entire body and every cell of your being. Best wishes:angel:.

I bought the ferrous sulfate since I didn't know that my body won't react well to it or not without trying it first. I did ask the pharmacy about the poly iron, it's $35 for 100 tabs.

I didn't think that I was taking things lightly. I've emailed and called, I've taken the tests they want and now starting the ferrous sulfate.

Maybe I'm just in denial and hoping the results are just wrong. Or that I just can't mentally put myself through being completely freaked out over this.

It helps to have advocates especially when one is ill and has trouble advocating for themselves.
