What sort of iron are they giving you?

Iron sucrose seems to cause less adverse effects that iron polymaltose.

Iron polymaltose can be given IM rather than IV, this can reduce the systemic reactions, but it can cause some local pain.

Taking a long acting antihistamine (eg Zyrtec) and an antiinflamatory drug (eg, 2 tabs of Aleave) before the injection can reduce adverse effects.

By taking an oral iron tablet with some vitamin C each day, you will be able to reduce the number of IV's you need - and will also keep your iron levals up in the longer term. however, all of this should be discussed with your treating doctor.

Carbonyl iron is better tolorated that other iron supplements, less nausea, less constipation etc

Best of luck!
