FLFG - Thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinions. I appreciate it.

I'm 32, and the anemia has actually come on suddenly. My doctor didn't give me the exact number of my B-12, since she called me on her way out of the office on Friday evening. She just said it was fine. I'll get the entire results Monday or Tuesday. Based on the bloodwork done at the ER, my MCV is 79.4, so just barely below normal. Given that the majority of my results came back in a normal range, this is why the hematologist and my doctor think this is a recent situation. The ER doc and my regular doc said if I was older, they would have given me blood and/or iron but since I am young and handling it well I don't need it yet. Is that bad? It kind of worried me, especially when I see people with higher numbers than mine getting these treatments.

My symptoms have not been too bad, actually, which is why this is a bit hard for me to process. I walk 10 miles a week with friends and while I've certainly had more difficulty in the past few weeks (light-headed, dizzy, weak) I'm still able to do it. I have a 3 year-old and a 4 1/2 year-old and I'm constantly chasing them. :) I'm tired, but I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary.

I will definitely be having a long conversation with my gynecologist tomorrow, and will bring up the iron. I think this is the week that a treatment plan gets put into place! I hope so, anyway.

Thanks again.
