Ok, if your doctor couldnt tell you the dose of iron to take, i would QUICKLY FIND another doctor. Why? Because too mcuh iron could kill you. And thats no joke. He should be prescribing you iron. He could start in low dose and adjust as needed. Iron dosage honestly is not per test level, it differs per person based on the circumstance. Not all people can take iron in all forms.

If your doctor is just suggesting an iron supplement for over the counter be careful as well. Many stores have pulled real iron for the reason I stated above. So much of what you get will have some if any affect. I would truly suggest looking at getting real vitamins and minerals through food and work on an exercise regiment. You will feel a lot better. Exercise can just be a walk, or a dance routine. If all else fails, and you have to get an over the counter, try a multivitamin and look for Iron, C and D.
