I have been trying to find out all I can about anemia and low iron. And I found this place!

I have moderate anemia but my iron numbers are low. I am 40, female, and in moderately good health. I had an endometrial ablation in November and have no reason to be anemic except for extremely heavy bleeding last year which resulted in my ablation. I've been eating a spinach salad everyday along with iron fortified cereal and red meat occasionally for dinner for the last two months. I eat lots of fruits and veggies too and take multi-vitamins. That didn't affect my numbers at all.

If someone can help me figure out what questions to ask my doctors, that would be great.

Hemoglobin is 11.0
Hematocrit is 34.5
RDW-CV is 16.0
MPV is 9.5
Other numbers are normal except for my iron numbers which are all low.
Iron is 24
TIBC is 245
Saturation is 9.8
Ferritin is 4.2

I saw a hemotologist 10 days ago and had an iron infusion by IV. I wasn't expecting that at all. I expected to feel like Wonder Woman and honestly, I can't tell a difference except for a rash that may be just coincidental. I go back in 2 1/2 weeks for labs and another visit to the hematologist to see if my numbers increased.

Can you offer any insight into my low iron numbers? I've looked up iron tests and results online and apparently it's unusual that all the iron numbers are low. Is that true? Should I be concerned?
