... Hi i recently got blood test results that said i was anemic. Does anyone know what these #'s mean and if it is severe? I have an appointment with a Hematologist in 2 weeks but i could hardly keep my head up??? ... Yes, it is low. Just today, my doctor told me that 20 is still too low and he likes to see everyone at least at a 50. You can make it increase my taking iron supplements. And it takes a long time. (1 replies)

... Kathy5am, Hope that the bone marrow test goes well. Why didn't your doctor do a iron dextran infusion? Have you ever done that? Did it not work? ... Like the above poster everyone IS different. According to my hematologist (I've been anemic for years) low iron in and of itself should not cause any noticable symptoms. It's when the low levels lead to anemia that you will notice a difference. I'm ALWAYS very iron deficient (Ferritin levels typically 3 to a high of 8) but I'm not always anemic.
