Hi there! I am really confused by my iron levels and I'd appreciate your input.

Last week, my total iron was at 178, saturation at 56% and ferritin at 35. My Dr. asked me to stop taking my multivitamin w/iron.

This week, my total iron is 160, saturation 50% and ferritin 20. My coach (I am a female vegetarian athlete who doesn't menstruate) urged me to take liquid iron, which my Dr. agrees with.

I understand that with a ferritin level at 20, I can't perform at my potential, however, I am worried about supplementing with liquid iron when I was told last week to stop taking my multivitamin w/iron because of my highish total iron level. Am I missing something?
