They can (and usualy do) pre medicate you with an antihistamine before the main infusion - ask about this before the infusion. An antihistamine (eg Zyrtec) and a simple analgesic (eg 2 Aleave) can minimise any reaction you might have - discuss with your doc or nurse before the infusion

If you have been taking oral iron and your levels are still this low, an infusion is certainly the way to go. After you have finished the infusions, taking a daily iron supplement by mouth (say 27mg of iron) can help keep your iron in the healthy range. You shoud start feeling a alot better within a week or two of the first infusuion
