I was recently diagnosed with Microcytic Anemia. I also have Low Ironlevels that are at 10.9. I do not eat red meat but I do take multivitamins because I can not take iron pills. My doctor seems unconcerned with the fact my bone marrow is trying too hard to produce blood. Can someone please tell me normalironlevels and what I should do or how I should approach talking to my doctor because he seems very uncaring about this problem, it makes me extremely fatigued and dizzy. Help??

was that ferritin or serum iron? what was your hemoglobin?
anyway, just try different iron supplements until you find one that you can tolerate. how about ferrochel iron or sundown carbonyl iron? these are supposed to be very gentle on the stomach if that's your issue. 100-200mg daily.
also, if you did find one that works well for you without side effects, 3 months later you would want a follow up blood test to see if it really worked and whether to stop.
if it didn't work, and your doctor still doesn't care, find another doctor.
