Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum & I was wondering if anyone else has seen this with their lab results and if so what it could mean.

RBC 4.26 normal
Hemoglobin 10.0 low
Hematocrit 31.8 low
MCV 74.5 low
MCH 23.5 low
MCHC 31.5 low
RDW 17.1 high
Plat 244 normal however large and giant platelets are present

Lymph 16 low
Mono 13 high
Seg Neutrophil 70 high
Meta 1 high

Manual Diff showed:

Micro 2+
Hypo 1+
Ovalo 1+
Other RBC Morph target cells 1+
Absolute Neut 4.1 normal
Absolute Lymph 0.9 low
Absolute Mono 0.8 high

Ferritin 4 low
Iron 26 low

I've had iron deficient anemia for years, I take 260mg of iron a day via vitamins. What I don't understand is how I could be anemic without my actual RBC being low? Also, the large and giant platelets are a new finding however this is throwing me off because my Plat count is normal. Anyone have any info they could share on how this could be? I'll be seeing a hematologist soon. Thanks in advance for your help!
