On the first day of my period, I get a writhing discomfort, I feel completely drained, I have shallow breathing, my body can't retain any heat, and I'm on the carpet floor rolling around in this exhausted incapacitating discomfort.

I cannot find any clue anywhere about my one-day-a-month agony - it happens on the first day of my menstrual cycle. All the info out there is about "cramps". I DON'T GET CRAMPS!!!! I don't get pain. It is like something's draining the life out of me and I'm writhing and I'm dying of heart failure submerged in the Arctic Ocean. I really don't know how else to describe this wretched agonizing sensation. It's low body temperature, shallow breathing, all over weakness, no energy, and agony. My skin is so cold to the touch.
A side symptom is I have to defecate slightly more often and I feel a shooting pain then. I also get bloated a little.

I've taken blood tests and they all say I am borderline anemic. I am on the very lowest end of the "healthy" range.
I take "Palafer", it says "300 mg ferrous fumarate equivalent to 100 mg elemental iron."

But on the first day of my period, it doesn't matter if I take none or if I take four. I don't know how many pills is an iron overdose but I swear I feel like I'm dying and I have no other idea of what else could help so I'm grabbing for the pills. What is the problem with me?
