I'm a male, 42 years old. Proper weight and my doctor(s) tell me I'm in fine shape without any significant issues. I do have an occasional hemorrhoid flare up with a tiny bit of bleeding that is not significant (I don't think). My GP is aware of this as well.

However, I seem to have symptoms of iron-deficiency: cold, tired, weak at times, palpitations at times, anxiety at times.

I've never had any Iron/Ferritin blood work done because my GP says it's incredibly unlikely for a man to be iron-deficient, especially with these labs:

RBC: 5.42
HGB: 17.2
HCT: 48.5

My Pdoc says with those basic hematology results, she can rule out iron problems. I am suspect, but don't have the medical insight to know what is accurate. I also understand (right or wrong) that too much iron for men can be dangerous for the heart? Or cause excessive oxidative stress?

Appreciate the input.
