Hi,

I am a 29 year old woman who has been having a variety of symptoms for the last 5 or so years including, extreme exhaustion not helped by sleep, dizziness upon standing, white out vision upon standing, easy bruising (I literally have times where I lean on my hand for too long and then look at the mirror and have a bruise of broken blood vessels on my face), basically all the classic symptoms of anemia. I also have GERD which I know is a symptom of pernicious anemia. My blood tests have never showed low iron levels or low red blood cell counts; however, I do have high folic acid levels which I have heard can mask anemia. I had my B12 tested once in 2009 and the result was:

B12 ---- 231 (211-911) ** on the pretty low end
Folic Acid --- 20.9 (I think 16 is the upper limit) *** High

The doctor said it was within range, so nothing to worry about, but I heard from other places, that this was really actually too low of a level for B12. So I started taking the Jarrow Sublingual B12 three times a day and seemed to feel a bit better. I have to say I stopped when I got pregnant and just never got back into it and have been fading ever since. I started taking it again, but only one a day and it didn't seem to make a difference. I thought that maybe it might be a good time to go to a doctor for a proper diagnosis and monitored treatment. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on doctors in Northern VA, MD, or DC area. Someone receptive to 231 being considered too low. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
