Welcome to the boards :D.

So in May your ferritin was a level 7 you took 325 mgs of iron for 3 months and got your ferritin up to a 49 and your Dr. is now saying since your in normal to stop. As you can see, just by looking at your numbers for example ferritin is hard to raise! We are talking about a number that can go up to 200 and very slowly might I add. Imagine how much better you would feel if your numbers were much higher and you said yourself your still feeling pretty crummy.

I would say continuing iron wouldn't be such a bad thing but that is something that needs to be monitored so if your not feeling like your Dr. is going to handle things you might be smart in seeking out a hematologist. Are you still taking iron now? I would much rather be in triple digits then doubles.

I would probably flip out if my Dr. didn't address my labs as soon as they were ready. I understand Dr's are busy but weeks just doesn't seem acceptable to me. I usually have my results by the next day, I can't imagine waiting weeks.

My advice is find a new Dr. let them know your desire to continue raising your iron or see if your Dr. will work with you. I would keep taking it if I were in your shoes, especially since you don't know what is causing the anemia. You need to find a Dr. that is going to try and see why you are anemic. Bleeding, Celiac's, poor diet, etc. Make sure your taking your iron with a nice big glass of OJ, the vitamin C will help it absorb.
