I think there must be something else going on besides anemia/low ferritin. Gluten intolerance could certainly be an issue. There are two blood tests to check for celiac disease, but you can still have gluten sensitivity without celiac. It could explain low ferritin if absorption is poor. You will know if your ferritin hasn't come up substantially. Have you considered an autoimmune disorder or low thyroid for your low energy? Lupus causes severe fatigue, aching all over, headaches, anemia, and low thyroid causes poor energy and sometimes aching, depression. Those can be checked out with blood tests, combined with symptom history and physical exam. Lupus can be associated with gluten intolerance, and affects young females primarily.
