Low Ferritin
Aug 23, 2013
Hi Everyone! I'm new to this message board but very thankful I came across it. I have recently been dx with low ferritin and I feel I am never going to get better. I started with leg cramps, back aches and then started with dizziness, headaches, feeling of floating, balance off and ringing in ears. I made several trips to ER feeling like I was having a heart attack or a brain tumor and doctors just looked at me like I was stupid and said I was having panic attacks. I seen several doctors trying to give me anti depressants and I feel like it was their way of saying I don't know whats wrong but here is some meds for you to deal. I finally found a doctor that specializes in hormone therapy that took the time to test me and found I had low ferritin and low progesterone. And at 37 I'm pre-menopausal. I've been taking several different vitamins iron, ferritin, multi vitamin, magnesium and vit D. I have to say I feel a whole lot better since all of my symptoms started but still don't feel normal!! Can anyone tell me when they started to fell "Normal" again.

b2b my dr has me on several different vitamins. I take Iron Picolinate (2 daily), OptiFerin-C (2 daily), Vitamin D-5000 (1 daily), Multi vitamin and magnesium (4 a day for each). And then I have a cream for the progesterone. I also take half of a Xanax when I have bad days of dizziness to help with that and it actually helps a lot. My dr also told me that it could take anywhere from 6 mo to a yr to get back to feeling 100% and that's why I got on here to talk with people that actually have been going through the same thing as I am and their experiences with it. Hope this helps you out!

Erik2k13 the dr says I'm not anemic but my iron is low. I do feel like I have this problem because of my periods because they have always been heavy since I was a teenager I just never thought it would cause such a problem with my health. Thank you for your information.
