I posted a rather detailed account of how my infusions went on my blog here at Healthboards (link: http://www.healthboards.com/boards/blogs/k742/)

In summary, I had three rounds of infusions, and I don't recall ever having that "Wow!" moment of the iron kicking in. That's not to say it wasn't worth it, but my doctors couldn't pinpoint what was causing it and never got to the bottom of why I was so anemic (turns out I have a 4cm endometrioma on my left ovary which causes my excessive bleeding...my new GYN suspects I have endometriosis and I'm having laparascopic surgery next month to investigate further).

All that to say, don't be discouraged if you don't feel 100% better right away. Sometimes it takes weeks...some times it takes months. I still take iron supplements - I don't take the one I was prescribed as it's too hard on my stomach. I take a "gentle iron" supplement which also has zinc, magnesium, and something else in it. It's more than the daily recommended value, but not 325mg like the Rx iron pills!

Do they know why you're so anemic? Is it because your body doesn't absorb the iron? Are you losing iron through excessive bleeding? That might help to know as well, so you can maintain the levels after infusion.

Good luck!!
