Re: Iron via IV
Mar 25, 2015
You should ask for Venofer IV right away. It's a miracle drug. If you suffer long enough with low iron your numbers RBC and Hemoglobin will go down. Oral supplements take long time. The sooner you get it the better you will feel. I have had 4 of them in Dec to correct ferritin of 7 which is very low. My feritin jumped to 87 after IVs and I felt good for about 2 months. Then I started feeling week and dizzy again. Although my feritin stayed at that level around 90 my other numbers started falling again: iron, TIBC, saturation rate, transferin. I asked for more IVs, I begged my hematologist because they can be very conservative at prescribing IVs when feritin is within normal range. After pleading with him he gave me 3 more. I received my 3rd IV 2 days ago and I feel fabulous now. I don't know how long they will last this time, hopefully forever, but IVs are great and venofer is what you need.
