I'm post Gastric-bypass (2007) and having every iron deficiency symptom that I can find. I've had 3 iron infusions in the last 5 years. I recently moved and my new GP has been less than interested in diagnosing or following up on my iron issues. My current numbers are:
Hemoglobin 10.5
Hematocrit 34.1
Ferritin Serum <1
Iron Serum 19
Iron Binding Capacity 441
Iron Saturation 4

She (my GP) keeps saying...well, your hemoglobin is not that low...so lets keep an eye on it.

I am beyond frustrated. I finally have an appointment with a Hematologist this week and I'm hoping they'll be agreeable to giving me an infusion.

My questions are these...How do I convince my new hematologist to give me the infusion? Are my numbers low enough to automatically qualify me for the infusion? How do I get on a schedule with a doctor so I don't get to this point again?

Any tips are appreciated
