... Thanks for your post Flowergirl - yes, I think you've understood me correctly. That could definitely explain why I'm feeling worse now than at any other point. What do you mean, you were non-anemic in 2 months "in the beginning"? How did it recurr, or why? Was it the same kind of anemia in both cases? Are you completely cured now? It sounds like your blood cells were... (10 replies)
... lynn82nj--Thanks for your post. I was curious about the type of chronic anemia that you had. I too would have chronic anemia if it weren't for my doc saying that I am married to iron supplements. Your ferritin dropped because you used up all your iron, as it was trying to keep up with the lowered Hgb levels which caused your anemia. There is an automatic mechanism that... (10 replies)
... Flowergirl is right - iron will only help if you are iron deficient. It is possible to be anemia and not iron deficient - I am chronically anemic, but I was only diagnosed when I went to see the doctor because the iron tablets were upsetting my stomach. You need to check if your ferritin levels are low as well as your haemoglobin, and if they are then you will need to take... (10 replies)

... I dont see ferritin on my blood test. He said my thyroid was fine, but I can't tell on the blood test printout where that test is. My ultra sensitive Crp is also high and from what I've read shows imflamation in the body. The thing is, how can I be anmemic if my Iron is within range but my mcv and mch is low and my RBC is high. He even used the words iron deficiency but... (4 replies)
... Yes my labs were very low. My ferritin is only 2 and he wants it at least 100. I have not seen my wls in quite some time. I need to get in for a check up. I have not seen him since I was one year post op. I am sure he would not be pleased with my labs. I hope your infusions make you feel better. (10 replies)
... s are too low, even if they are still on the lab's scale of 'normal' it doesn't mean they are enough to make you functional, make sense? ... (10 replies)
... Both doctors are saying what is correct. The ferritin level is ok. It is stored iron. That means you have an adequate supply and you really don't want to mess with that. When the stores get high that is another disease you do not want. The Red Blood Cell count is by itself no indicator of anemia. The Hemaglobin is the official designator of how much functional iron you have... (1 replies)

... because I was so sick. I said, "I am severely anemic with a 8.5 hgb and 2 ferritin!" I didn't even know that anemia was classed in grades? ... (9 replies)
... I've been iron deficient for a long time BUT as a fitness fanatic NOTHING gets in the way of my workout! According to my hematologist there's no reason to scale back on my exercise program. He said either my body will be able to do it or it won't. He claims that I can't "hurt myself" with too much activity. ... (3 replies)

... I am still taking iron supplements but I'm still mildly anemic just not as bad as before. My ferritin still is at the lower end of the scale even though my iron and iron stores have improved a lot more. What's your ferritin level? ... (10 replies)
... mit, and the highest person's result became the upper. Now, I'm not sure if that's exactly how it works, but it does make sense in light of how huge the ferritin scale is. ... (2 replies)
