My only guess would be perhaps something in your blood work points to something besides low iron anemia.However it does seem odd if it is just low iron that the doctor didn't rule out the obvious first. The brusing is also most likely due to the B12 deficiency, as well as the weight loss and the other symptoms you mentioned.
