... I really appreciate the suggestion of liquid iron. I have not tried that yet - but I will. Makes sense....I can't absorb the b-12 in pill form. I don't do caffiene or alcohol. I haven't had any in 2 years. (3 replies)
... I've found the pills from the pharmacy don't help me since I can't absorb them well. But as soon as I started taking a good quality liquid iron from the health food store my iron went up. They often add different things such as Vit C that help iron absorption. Also I had to quit caffeine since it takes iron out of your system. You can drink non-caffeinated drinks such as... ... Does anyone have both pernicious anemia & iron deficient anemia? I have been battling pernicious for over 2 years & now I also have iron deficient. I am on B-12 injections & iron supplements - but not much change. My Iron is 18 with a 4% sat & my ferritin is 5.08. Any suggestions? (3 replies)
... Long story short, I was dx with iron def. anemia a couple months ago. Hemoglobin was low but nothing crazy low as I've seen others with but my ferritin was 3. Was sent to a hematologist (my hemoglobin dropped but still not crazy low, like 10 to 10-1/2). Diet fine. Never had it before. No obvious reason so most likely just not absorbing for whatever reason. Ordered 6 weeks of... (1 replies)

... So anyway, I feel for you. I think your diet may have to do with it. Although there is iron in veg, it is not absorbed as easily. So supplementing is def the way to go. You could also have absorption problems. Not sure what country your in but you may want to check for parasites. ... (2 replies)
... I know I'm tired (Iron Def. Anemia will do that to ya... ) but isn't my Tibc supposed to be normal or above normal if my serum feritin is low? I get IV iron (8wk sessions, once a wk about 2 to 3 times a year) and have my levels tested every month w/a copy of the labs sent to my hemo. ... Saw the dr. Mon. and she said this is without a doubt iron def. anemia. Apparently ferritin that is below 50 can make you feel really bad. Optimal levels should be between 50-100. Thought I'd update for those that may have similar labs. I'm now taking ferrous sulfate 325 mg twice daily with vitamin c supplements. Found out recently that Goji berries have more iron than red... ... Dear SISD, Rheumatologists are notorious for dragging their feet on making a diagnosis. The fact that he "suspects" lupus and has said that, may be all the commitment you'll get out of him for now. Personally, I would take that as a presumptive diagnosis especially since he is now treating you for it. Placquenil is standard first step for lupus and is not used generally for... (19 replies)

She wasn't too concerned about it, although I do know that every dr isn't up on every new "finding". Basically, because I had low numbers when I was pregnant and not on the Prilosec then. Right now, I can't do without the Prilosec. If I stop taking it, the... (7 replies)
