... I am 42yr old and was just diagnosed with Thalassemia alpha --- HUGE DIFF from what I hear between alpha and beta - Beta can be VERY dangerous and hard to control. IF both parents have it - kids should be checked out - cause it can be the harder one. I found out cousins have it too. You may be experiencing more than one thing going on at this time, along with your iron deficiency. It does not sound like typical iron deficiency symptoms to me. Neuro symptoms are associated with B-12 deficiency as you say, but not typical of iron def. ... (6 replies)
