... Iron will fix general Iron Deficiency anemia, but not PA for example; it has to be treated with B-12. You become anemic for different reasons, as you know, but it is all treated the same. Many doctors will not run further tests for B-12 because they say it's still treated the same way. I think they should always find a root cause. It helps to know more about your medical... B12 Question
Nov 23, 2008
... Rhi--Whenever there is anemia present you should *always* have a B-12 and folate test to see if it is low or if there is a deficiency. IDA and B-12 def. can coexist. Some docs don't think to run this test. It happened to my friend. Always get a copy of your labs and compile a notebook to reference. You would only need to supplement B-12 if your values are low or if you... (2 replies)
... FLFLOWERGIRL - Oh yeah, he's a real treat. ;) I have been to him three times now, and he refuses to read my past charts... stating that he knows I am just panicking. I do have incredibly heavy periods... they last about 7 to 8 days, and I go through at least 5 or 6 of the largest size tampons they offer in a day. Ugh! I am on my second try at birth control, but it... (19 replies)

Do you have heavy periods reason for blood loss? You are only 88 points from B-12 deficiency according to what most doctors go by, but there is further tests to be completed to tell if you...
