... Katie, When I was anemic, I took Slow FE. I got it over the counter. It slowly releases into your system so there isn't as many side effects. I never had any side effects. I took 3 a day (one every 4 hours with OJ & vitamin C). I did notice that my bm's were black which according to my doctor was ok. Hope this helps. :) Heidi (16 replies)
